Getting a Just Recovery Resolution Passed in Your Community

Turn up the heat on policymakers and those profiting unfairly from Katrina. Help get your local government or statewide or national organizations to pass a KIN resolution. You can sign up to help lead a campaign, join an existing campaign or as a local elected official, introduce a resolution.

The resolution urges Congress and the President to act now to adequately fund just recovery including victims compensation, complete restitution and a formal, independent oversight commission with representation from communities hardest hit. There is also a “selective contracting” clause to restrict business with companies cited by the House Oversight Committee or Government Accounting Office for mismanagement of recovery funds until funds are properly accounted for by an independent investigation and overage turned over to an independent, representative commission.
