Brenda Robichaux has been the Principal Chief of the Houma Nation since 2002. The 16,000 member nation is centered in Southern Louisiana and was severely impacted by Katrina, with thousands of tribal members left homeless or displaced. Brenda Robichaux’s willingness to confront the injustices against Indian people from the classroom to the state capitol is well established and she has gained a reputation as being an outspoken and dauntless advocate for minority issues.
